A Non-Holiday Miracle: Jaycees Light Up Paul Bunyan’s Christmas Tree During COVID-19 Pandemic


COMMUNITY COLLEGE.>>>A TREND THAT’S LIGHTING UP THE NATION DURING THE PAST FEW WEEKS DURING THIS CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK HAS MADE ITS WAY TO BEMIDJI. AS PEOPLE ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE SELF-QUARANTINING OR ARE WORKING FROM HOME, SOME ARE TURNING ON THEIR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO SPREAD CHEER DURING THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES. LAST NIGHT THE BEMIDJI JAYCEES WITH THE HELP FROM PARKS AND RECS AND THE SANFORD CENTER ILLUMINATED PAUL BUNYAN CHRISTMAS TREE. THE TREE WAS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED TO BE TAKEN DOWN IN THE COMING WEEKS, BUT BECAUSE OF THE SNOW THAT WE HAVE KEPT EVERYTHING IN PLACE, THE LIGHTS WILL BE KEPT ON ON THROUGHOUT THE QUARANTINE PERIOD.>>IN THESE UNCERTAIN TIMES, WE WANTED SOMETHING TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT TO THE HEROES, LIKE THE DOCTORS AND NURSES THAT GET TO STAY AT WORK AND DON’T GET TO BE AT HOME WITH THEIR FAMILIES DURING THIS CRISIS.>>THE BEMIDJI JAYCEES ARE ASKING COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PLUG THEIR LIGHTS BACK IN AND USE THE
