the description box below. Day -01 The nearest airport of Garhpanchkot is Kolkata
international airport. By car it would take 5 hours to reach Garpanchakot
from central Kolkata. The distance is 256 Km.
If you wish to travel by train then get down at Asansol station and hire a car to reach
Garhpanchakot. The distance is 30 km and the travel time would be around 1 hour, the fare
would be between Rs. 1000 to 1200. We suggest to get down at kumardubi station,
which is the nearest railway station to garhpanchakot. Please check the description box for trains
which you can avail to reach Garhpanchkot. Hire an autorickshaw to reach your resort.
The autorickshaw will charge around Rs. 300. The journey is extremely refreshing. The auto
first passes through forest and then crosses the Panchet dam to reach the West Bengal forest
development Corporation’s Nature resort. The nature resort of West Bengal Forest Department,
is probably the best place for your stay but check some private resorts in case you fail
to book your room at wbfdc Nature Resort of Garhpanchkot. The links are given below in the description
box. After checking into your room, just roam around
and experience the resort which is quite big and spacious. If you go there by your private car then there
is option of parking your car. There are many buildings, hosting rooms of

and pleasing echoes of frogs and crickets. Inhale fresh air. Rejuvenate your soul and
mind. The restaurant is situated within the campus.
The food is good and non spicy. After finishing your lunch head away for local
side scene tour. The resort can arrange your car. A Non-AC car would cost around Rs.1400/-
an AC car would cost around Rs. 1800/- for half-day tour. First visit panchet dam. Panchet Dam is the endmost of the four dams
of Damodar Valley Corporation that was constructed a little above its confluence with the Barakar.
It was inaugurated in 1959. Build across the Damodar River, it has a height
of 148 ft and a stretch of 22,235 ft. It is an earthen dam with a concrete conduit.
The two units of 40 MegaWatt power stations have been installed here for power generation. You can walk along the concrete road on Panchet
dam and enjoy the cool breeze from the Damodar River basin. Next go to Mython Dam Located 48 km away from Dhanbad, Mython is
termed as mother’s abode. It has the biggest reservoir in DVC.
It is 15,713 ft in length and 165 ft high. The dam was specially designed for flood control
and generates 60,000 Kilo Watt of electric power. At Mython Dam, boating can be enjoyed and
this is the most exciting part of this tour itinerary. Explore the complete stretch of the dam, offering
majestic views. There are small islands on the river. If you wish you can get down on
these islands and explore further. Boating charges depends on how much time you
decide to spent on the boat and the area you prefer to cover. On an average, it varies
from Rs. 300 to Rs. 700. Next visit Mazumdar nibas. This is the Guest House of DVC(Damodar Valley
corporation). Built on a waterbody, the Location of this guest house is excellent. This can
be a good option for your stay if you prefer to spent a day in Mython. You need to use
the foot bridge to reach the guest house. Contact number for booking is given in the
description box below. Next visit Kalyaneswari Temple. Kalyaneshwari is a 500-year-old centre of Shakti worship.
Legend has it that human sacrifices were offered at Kalyaneshwari in the remote past. The present
temple, however, is not very old and was constructed by the Panchkot Raj, also known as Panchkot
Zamindari or Kashipur Raj. The temple of Goddess Kalyaneshwari is believed
to fulfil the wishes of childless women. Don’t miss to visit the back side of the
temple. A peaceful quiet place. The constant sound of flowing stream is perfect to end
your tour for the day. While going back to your resort, stop for
a while on the panchet dam just to take few snaps of the setting sun. Day 2 If you are lucky enough then the sound of
raindrops on the leaves of forest would wake you up. Words will fall short to describe
the experience. So have a cup of tea and enjoy the surroundings. After having your breakfast or an early lunch
set out for local tour. The car fare would be the same as the previous day. First visit Baronti lake. Baranti a small, quiet and scenic place. There
is a 1 km long irrigation project dam, between two small hillocks, Muradi Hill and Baranti
Hill. The poetry of the beautiful Mother Nature
is fabulously painted and offered by the Baranti Lake.

wander around the attractive landscape, enjoy the lush greenery, clear water, fresh air
and lots more. Next visit Pancharatna Temple. This is actually newly built Pancharatna temple.
The old one looked like this. Panchkot was ruled by the Singh Deo Dynasty.
Singh Deo dynasty kept on ruling there until mid 18th century when the Marathas, better
known as ‘Bargis’ invaded Panchkot and it was turned into ruins. So Whatever is left
is actually some scattered depleted construction. The principal temple which is pancharatna
temple has been renovated. A lot of dilapidated constructions of the ruined fort is visible
around this place. Next move to Jaichandi Hill.
Joychandi hill is a popular tourist centre and major attraction for rock climbing. The
Bengali film, Hirak Rajar Deshe, directed by famous filmmaker Satyajit Roy was mostly
shot around this area. Every Year A Festival is held in the foothills
after the Christmas and this Festival usually continues to the month of january. Steps meandering around the boulders would
take you to the top of the hill at a height of 800 ft.
It may be little difficult to reach at the top as you may need to take breaks to catch
your breath. Once you reach there you would find the temple
of mata chandi. You will be greeted with a panoramic view
of the green undulated landscape of Purulia from this gusty hilltop. Our trip ends here. Return back to resort
and spend the night in the midst of jungle. Next Morning you can move to Asansole Stantion
