Indian state Karnataka has many beautiful vacation destinations spread throughout the
state. Among them there is one place which is a world famous destination and that is
the Jog Falls. Mostly popular for scenic beauty the place also offers some adventure activities
that you can enjoy during your stay here. Best time to visit
The best time to visit here is in Monsoon when you can see the falls at its fullest.
How to Reach Jog Falls is well connected to Mangalore by
train or road. The nearest railway station to Jog falls is Shimoga. You can get numerous
train to reach Shimoga from Mangalore or Bangalore. By road Jog Falls is around 230 km away from
Mangalore and time taken to reach Jog Falls from Mangalore is around 6 hours by car.
Now let’s start our tour. Day-1
On day -1 of your tour first reach Sigandur from Mangalore or Bangalore. Sigandhur or
locally known as Sigandooru is a small town in Karnataka situated on the banks of Holy
river Sharavati. The place is surrounded by lush greeneries and Liganamakki Dam. This
place is mostly famous for Shri Chowdeshwari Temple.
Upon reaching the place go to visit this temple. This is a Hindu Shrine dedicated to Goddess
Chowdeshwari. Day-2
On day-2 morning, first go to visit the famous Jog falls. You can get local taxi for sightseeing
in Sigandhur. Jog Falls is the second highest plunge waterfalls
in India dropping from a height of 253 meter above the sea level. The waterfalls is created
by the Holy River Sharavathi. This waterfalls is one of the major tourist attractions of
the state Karnataka. Every year, the scenic beauty of this place attracts numerous visitors
here. From Jog falls go to visit Honnemaradu which
is less than 1 hour away from Jog Falls. At this place you can enjoy the backwaters of
River Sharavathi. Here you can enjoy boating and adventure sports like river rafting and
kayaking. Day-3
On 3rd day of your tour go to visit Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve. The place is just
10km away from Shimoga located on the Shimoga Sagar road.
Spread across an area of 200 hectares the place rehabilitates the lions and tigers rescued
from Indian circuses. You can enjoy a safari inside this sanctuary.
The sanctuary is open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:15 PM to 5:00 PM on all days
of the week except Tuesday and on national holidays.
Day-4 On 4th day of your tour head back to Mangalore
or Bangalore for departure.
